It appears now that for some months (approximately six), that Robin van Persie has yet to sign a new contract offer that is said to triple his current wages. The contract is estimated to be around £80,000 to £100,000 per week and is a five year deal. Robin van Persie has been clearly Arsenal's best striker, and arguably there player of the year this season. He leads the team in both assists and goals this season, and finally has survived a season without a major injury. There is no wonder why he is getting greedy... His reasons for not signing in the contract as of yet have been described as a "lack of ambition" by the Arsenal club to win trophies. Now, I understand we haven't won a cup in years, but I personally think it is a bit ridiculous to suggest that Arsenal isn’t trying enough to win. Regardless, Persie is due for a nice pay increase. He has always had a nose for goal and the team has a lift of spirit when is playing up top. However, as previously mentioned, he is as injury-prone a striker as they come. In 2006-2007, he injured his foot which ended his season early. However he was the leading scoring still for Arsenal that year. In 2007-2008, he injured his knee while on international duty, which ended his impressive start to the campaign that year (7 goals in 10 matches). The question then arises...is he worth the money we are going to invest in him, or should Arsenal cash in on him while the last year of contract remains...?
